Katie and Justin’s backyard mountain wedding took place at Katie’s uncle’s house near Heber City, Utah. I did their engagements and bridals so it was so nice getting to see this sweet couple again for their country-themed wedding! They got married on a Friday afternoon in late-May, which if you live in Utah, you know that it can be an iffy time of the year to have a backyard mountain wedding. With rain clouds hovering all morning, I was definitely worried about it raining, but we got so lucky with the weather.
As soon as I arrived, I started taking detail photos of their amazing and super country chic decor. I took a few photos of Katie’s mom putting on her wedding dress, which was her wedding dress when she got married 20 years ago (so sweet!!) Their ceremony was officiated by her uncle and as soon as they said “I Do,” it started raining. We all ran inside and waited for the rain to stop before taking family photos. The weather for the rest of the day went from cloudy to sunny in .02 seconds. They had a popcorn and soda bar with different candies, spices, and different flavors. They also had some yard games like giant Jenga, corn hole, and they had fires to keep everyone warm with the cooler temps 🙂
My favorite part of their wedding day was when Katie had the father-daughter dance with her dad. It was so sweet to see how much her dad cared for her and there were many tears shed (from me as well). After all of their dances, they did a sparkler send off into Justin’s decorated truck to go off to their honeymoon. I really loved working with this sweet couple and I’m so happy for them and love the way their wedding photos turned out. It was the perfect backyard mountain wedding.
