Madi and Declan decided they wanted to have a Lake Powell sunset elopement and I couldn’t be happier with how their day turned out. When they reached out, they knew they wanted to have a sunset elopement with a canyon view of Lake Powell, but they were not sure where exactly to go. They are both from Tennessee and have only lived in Utah for a few months so they had never even been to southern Utah. I immediately research a few places using Google Earth, which is my go-to to find new locations. I stumbled upon this really remote spot and threw out the possibility of renting a Jeep and traveling to their elopement spot. They agreed! So now that we figured out the location, we figured out the logistics of how they wanted their day to go.

Madi and Declan chose to have a very laid-back elopement day. They wanted to keep their day intimate and intentional while keeping a few traditions such as a first look and a cupcake exchange (scroll down to see if they shoved it into each other’s faces hehe). We met in St. George where Madi was getting her hair and makeup done then we rode together to their first look location in Snow Canyon State Park. Afterwards- we hopped in the Jeep and made the 3 hour one-way trip to their remote Lake Powell sunset elopement spot. We listened to John Mayer while trying not to suffocate in the dry, July heat as we talked and laughed about things that Southerners say (I’m from Georgia originally and they’re from Tennessee). On our way, we got pulled over by a police office for speeding, which is the first time that has ever happened to me riding with the couple hahaha! The officer saw that there was an obvious bride and groom in the Jeep so they were kind enough to let us continue our journey. I’m thinking it was good luck that we all got pulled over, right??

Once we finally arrived to the location, they had a short and sweet ceremony followed by photos, cake cutting, and some dancing! I was astonished by this amazing location. I definitely will be coming back here in the fall to camp with my husband and our dog. Madi and Declan were so kind and so much fun to be around all day. We ended up getting back to St. George around 1:00 am and I was so excited for these photos that I edited a few that night.
