Sierra and Tyler came all the way to Utah from Michigan for their sunset Zion National Park engagement session. They wanted sweeping views of Zion National Park so I, of course, suggested my favorite place to take photos in the park, Canyon Overlook Trail! This trail is perfect for photos at sunrise or sunset and because it’s not too strenuous and it’s only 1 mile round trip plus you don’t need to take the park shuttle to this spot and can drive yourself. I’ve had couples hike in dresses (including Sierra) just fine! The only downside to this spot is that sometimes it can be crowded especially during busy season and on weekends, but I can generally find a spot all to ourselves. Since we did their photos the Saturday after Thanksgiving, I knew it would be extra busy so we met in town and carpooled to the spot. We luckily found a pretty close spot to the trailhead and started hiking up the trail. I had so much fun getting to know Siarra and Tyler. One of my favorite parts about my job is getting to know my amazing couples, how they met, what they like to do for fun, etc. The best part about doing engagement photos in Zion National Park is that it’s typically couples traveling from all over the United States so it’s super fun getting to talk with people from other locations.
This is what a sunset in Zion National Park looks like for an engagement session. It’s so pretty!
Siarra and Tyler were not afraid to get close to the ledges at all. Even though that is a false ledge, I was definitely panicking the whole time! I always tell couples to get as close as they feel comfortable with.
