Dead Horse Point Engagement Session

Maria and Matt came all the way from Los Angeles for their sunset engagement session at Dead Horse Point State Park in Moab, Utah. They drove out for a long weekend away with their cute dog Rocco, who we made sure would be in the photos as well 🙂 They are originally from New York City and made the move to LA in the last couple of years. I’m so stoked to be photographing their wedding in NYC in fall of 2023!!

If you’ve never been to Dead Horse Point State Park in Moab, I highly recommend taking the trip. It’s one of my favorite places I’ve ever been to and rivals the beauty of the grand canyon without the crowds. Dogs are allowed (on leash) so it makes for a great place to take your engagement photos if you want to bring your dog along. Moab has a lot of amazing dog-friendly trails as well. I am happy to send some suggestions to help plan your trip.

If you’re considering Dead Horse Point for your engagement session, I recommend starting an hour before sunset or planning on being there for sunrise. There is a fee to enter the park (they do accept the Utah state parks pass). Maria and Matt did their engagement session in November and it ended up being a really warm evening. Any time of the year is a good time to go, however, I recommend visiting between October and April to avoid the extreme heat 🙂

Look at Rocco! I loved that Maria and Matt brought him and were just as obsessed with him as I am with my dog 🙂
