Bonneville Salt Flats Bridals

I met Megan and Zach at the Bonneville Salt Flats in Utah for their bridals session. There was a big storm rolling in with 20 MPH winds, rain, and thunder when we arrived. Megan and Zach were so cool and they were actually really happy about the weather because they didn’t want a bright and sunny day in their photos. It honestly worked out great because it was one of the prettiest shoots that I have ever done. We started with the storm and ended with the most beautiful double rainbow and sunset (scroll to the end to see the majesty). Megan and Zach really trusted me in the different poses that I did and I am so glad that they were happy to do anything that I suggested!

How to Take Photos at the Bonneville Salt Flats

If you are wanting to take your bridals, formals, or engagement photos at the Bonneville Salt Flats, it is located about an hour and a half west of Salt Lake City. If you are coming from out of town to experience the beautiful salt flats, I recommend flying into the SLC International Airport and then renting a car to make the trek out there. Sunrise or sunset are typically the prettiest times of the day at the flats, but I think that I enjoy sunset better 🙂 You do not need to pay any sort of fee to take photos here. There are some signs saying that you aren’t allowed to drive out onto the salt flats, but it seems like a pretty gray area and I have never ran into any issues with driving onto the flats.
