If you are wanting to get married in the mountains of Park City, Utah, I highly recommend checking out The Church of Dirt for your wedding! It’s actually where my husband and I got married in the fall of 2019 and it was a great little venue located at the top of Empire Pass. The best part about The Church of Dirt? It is 100% free! 🙂 All you need to do is honor the system in place there. You will need to choose a date (you might want to have a few dates in mind just in case yours is already booked), drive up to the location (it’s located in between Park City and Big Cottonwood Canyon), and look through the dates that are already booked. People will leave pieces of wood, bricks, even old skis to reserve their day and time. There is also sometimes a notebook there that will have people’s dates. You can put you and your partner’s name, date, time that you’d like it reserved, and your phone numbers. I have never had an issue with wedding crashers. Everyone seems pretty respectful.

Jackie and Kyle originally had their wedding planned for next year. They were going to have a big, traditional wedding with lots of guests. They decided to instead have a small wedding at the Church of Dirt. They planned the whole thing in about 6 weeks and it ended up being such a fun day with their closest family and friends.

They rented a cabin in Big Cottonwood Canyon to get ready and also to have a small reception after the ceremony. They made sure that the owners were okay with having an event at their cabin. I definitely recommend renting a cabin in either Big Cottonwood Canyon or in Deer Valley for your wedding at The Church of Dirt.

They decided to have a first look and I suggested this aspen grove located near the ceremony location. We did the first look and family photos at that location before heading to The Church of Dirt for their wedding ceremony and post-ceremony photos!
