Brave enough to have an Alaska winter wedding like Moriah and Roark!? It really isn’t bad if you layer up and take lots of warm-up breaks, I promise! 😉 Moriah and Roark had their wedding at the Alaska Airmen’s Association in Anchorage. Roark is a pilot himself and it was super cool to visit and see all the cool planes and floatplanes by frozen Lake Hood. The couple wanted to have a first look and do their couple’s photos in a different location so I suggested Flattop Mountain, which is one of my favorite places that’s close to Anchorage. We met up for sunrise at 10:00 am (yep, that’s when the sun rises this time of year in AK hahaha). Moriah wore a seal coat that belonged to her grandma when she moved to Alaska as a young women. It kept Moriah warm and toasty for these pictures we took in the 15 degree chill. Later, she wore a Russian hat also owned by her grandma. We spent about an hour in the cold (and they were such troopers) before making our way to the ceremony and reception.

Moriah and Roark are really passionate about film photography so they added on the ultimate film package to their day, which includes Polaroids, black and white, and color film. I love when couples want to add film to their day as it adds a unique and timeless flair to their photos. They had an intimate and casual wedding ceremony indoors filled with close family and friends before their super fun reception. They had Hawaiian food catered (amazing), danced the night away, and drank all the Costco wine! I always love capturing candid dancing photos at the end of the night!
