Portage Pass Engagement Photos

I have been hoping to take some Portage Pass engagement photos since the very first time I hiked there last summer. Portage Pass is one of my all-time favorite hikes in Alaska and luckily Rachel and Brooks wanted to experience it too! We met up just before the Whittier tunnel to drive through together and start the short, steep hike to get to this majestic spot overlooking the Prince William Sound and Portage Glacier. We hiked up here the first day of September and we lucked out with the dreamiest overcast weather, which is a rarity in Alaska 😉 We had a blast talking, laughing, and running around the Alaskan tundra. Rachel and Brooks were just spending their summer in Alaska (like me) doing travel nursing so they wanted to get their engagement photos taken somewhere that was so special to them.

We hiked up to this viewpoint, which is one mile from the trailhead…only one mile to reach these EPIC views! We spent a little over an hour frolicking around and getting the most epic photos, which is not hard with how incredible the vistas are. If you’re looking for Portage Pass engagement photos, reach out! I would love to bring another couple to one of my favorite locations in the world!!

Best Time to Visit Portage Pass

If you’re wanting to take your engagement photos here or even just visit, the best time to come is between mid-June and mid-September. Otherwise there will be snow and probably lots of post-holing! Beware of bugs on overcast days and bring lots of bug spray.
